About Me

While teaching art to children has been my job for nearly ten years, my other passion in life is strength training. The same principles apply in the training studio as they do in the art studio—what you practice grows stronger. Growth cannot be seen in real time. It’s only after consistent hard work over time that we see the results of our labors.

I am not a professional artist, but I am an expert hand-craftsman. I’ve worked with my hands for my entire life and meticulous detail is my jam. That love of precision has not only inspired my art-making journey—from portrait photography, bookbinding, and crochet, to abstract fluid art, mini watercolor painting and bullet journal design—but it fuels my love of the process of creating.

I love learning new things and adore breaking down a process into its simplest, most accessible form with the ultimate goal of being able to teach it to someone else.

Working with hands requires focus and steady strength development, so I transfer my passion for strength training into my teaching practice by scaffolding lessons to naturally increase dexterity and build fine motor skills over time.

My teaching practice emphasizes growth mindset. And I believe that modeling self-discipline and consistent effort has helped me create and maintain trusting relationships in my classroom. If I build authentic connections, my students are far more willing to engage in creative challenges knowing they can rely on my unyielding support and encouragement. This is why I’m Coach T.
